Hello Wellness Buddies,
March 25, 2026, was a very long day. It began at 2 AM. My head buzzed with ideas for the book launch, and I experienced what I consider a “mental overdrive”—a mixture of excitement and anxiety. Instead of fighting for sleep, I followed my thoughts wherever they took me. Thankfully, it was a productive and edifying place.
As those who have followed me for a while know, I teach mental rest and the importance of sleep. However, there I was: wide awake at 2 AM with an extremely busy mind. At about 5:30 AM, I finally felt a surge of deep sleep. But just as I drifted into dreamland at 6:10 AM, my oldest daughter woke me up in a panic. She hadn’t completed her maths assignment, and it was due that morning. Anyone who detests being woken up will understand the “horror” I felt! I sent her away immediately, hoping to catch another 15 minutes of sleep before starting work at 8 AM.
Later that day, I zoomed from work to a parents’ evening for my younger children, followed by a Psychology and Trauma CPD workshop with a dear friend from 7 PM to 9 PM. It was a long day! When I described how “crazy” and sleep-deprived I felt, my friend succinctly paraphrased my experience in one short sentence: “You are tired and wired.” It was such a profound and accurate description. Thankfully, the body is designed to respond to stress and adjust to protect itself. You may be reading this and feeling tired, wired, stretched, and exhausted—and that’s okay. There are seasons that keep us in that state for a few days or even weeks: meeting deadlines, academic assessments, work inspections, or a product launch.
However, you can still work from a place of rest. It is vital to ensure your “tired and wired” state does not stretch into years. Your body and mind were designed by God to handle stress, but not to remain in a prolonged state of it without breaks or an internal state of peace to compensate for the external chaos.
Some parents say they have not properly rested since their children were born, yet their children are now teenagers. Their sacrifice seems commendable until you realise that cannot be God’s best for them. (I recognise exceptional cases, such as parents of children with complex needs, and I pray for their strength, help and rest regularly). However, most parents have normalised a “constantly tired” culture as a symbol of responsibility. Others chase the next career break so intensely they never enjoy today, or some people are so caught up in the regrets of yesterday that today’s anxiety inhibits them from living well.
Has being “tired and wired” become your personality or your culture? This is not God’s best for you. It affects your health and your ability to fulfill your purpose. How can you patiently love others when you are on the borderline of an emotional breakdown? How can you work from a place of rest and honor God with your lifestyle choices?
I answer these questions and more in The ABCs of Wellness. This book takes you on a journey of accepting your limitations while recognising your strengths. You will learn practical ways to end the cycle of being “tired and wired” so you can live an enjoyable life that blesses you and the world around you.
If you’ve been exhausted for too long, it’s time to take back control and rest in God. I show you simple, natural, and affordable ways to do this through biblical wisdom.
The Book Launch is April 7th. To learn more or to attend, join the WhatsApp group.
